개인정보 처리방침

WhereWise(wherewise.ca, 이하 "우리")는 캐나다의 동네·상권 자료를 보여 주는 웹사이트입니다. 회사가 아니라 BC주 밴쿠버에 사는 개인 [운영자 법적 이름]이 운영합니다.

이 방침은 BC주 개인정보보호법(Personal Information Protection Act, PIPA)과, 적용되는 경우 연방 개인정보보호법(PIPEDA)에 맞춰, 우리가 어떤 개인정보를 왜 모으고 어떻게 다루는지 설명합니다. 개인정보 책임자는 운영자 본인이며, 연락처는 here@wherewise.ca입니다.

WhereWise (wherewise.ca, “we”) is a website that shows Canadian neighbourhood and business-area data. It is not a company: it is run by one individual in Vancouver, British Columbia, [owner’s legal name].

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we handle it, in line with BC’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). The owner is the person responsible for privacy and can be reached at here@wherewise.ca.

AI 상담 (베타)

• 질문과 화면 정보. 질문 내용과 함께 보고 있는 페이지·상권, 지도에서 고른 지점, 계산기에 넣은 값, 같은 대화의 앞선 질문과 답(최근 3개까지)을 우리 서버를 거쳐 Anthropic으로 보내 답을 만듭니다. 베타 기간에는 서비스를 고치려고 질문과 답의 내용도 저장합니다.
• 이용 횟수 제한. 베타 동안 한 사람은 모두 10번, 전체 이용자는 합쳐서 3,000번까지 물을 수 있습니다. 한 사람을 구분하려고 IP 주소를 비밀 값(salt)을 섞은 일방향 해시로 바꿔 횟수와 함께 저장합니다. 해시로 원래 IP 주소를 되살릴 수 없으며, IP 주소 자체는 저장하지 않습니다.
• 상담 기록. 질문마다 질문과 답의 내용, 시각, 페이지·상권, 빠른 답·깊은 답 구분, 쓴 모델, 토큰 수, 비용, 성공 여부, 위의 IP 해시, 탭 안에서만 쓰는 무작위 세션 번호를 저장합니다. 어떤 질문이 많은지 알고 답의 품질·비용·오류를 관리하는 데 씁니다.

이용 기록

• 페이지 조회, 화면에서 본 구역, 누른 버튼·링크·탭·레이어, 고른 상권과 메뉴 값, '주소로 찾기'와 계산기에서 검색한 주소, 지도에서 연 장소, 페이지에 머문 시간과 내려 읽은 정도.
• 함께 저장하는 것: 탭을 닫으면 사라지는 무작위 세션 번호, 위와 같은 방식의 IP 해시, 화면 너비와 기기 종류(휴대폰·태블릿·컴퓨터), 들어온 경로(referrer), 화면 언어.
• 쿠키는 쓰지 않습니다. 입력란에 쓴 글은 주소 검색 말고는 저장하지 않습니다. 어떤 기능과 상권을 많이 보는지 알고 사이트를 고치는 데만 씁니다.

이메일 문의

• here@wherewise.ca로 메일을 보내면 이메일 주소와 내용을 받고, 답장하는 데 씁니다.

호스팅 접속 기록

• 사이트를 서비스하는 Vercel은 보안과 운영을 위해 접속 기록(IP 주소, 시각, 요청한 주소, 브라우저 정보)을 짧은 기간 남길 수 있습니다. [운영자 확인: 쓰는 플랜의 로그 보관 기간]

동의. AI 상담에 질문을 보내면 위와 같이 처리하는 데 동의하는 것으로 봅니다. 상담을 쓰지 않아도 사이트의 다른 기능은 모두 쓸 수 있습니다. [법률 검토: 이용 기록에 묵시적 동의로 충분한지]

There are no accounts, so we do not ask for your name, email address or phone number. This is all we collect:

AI chat (beta)

• Your question and what is on screen. To write an answer, we send your question through our server to Anthropic, together with the page and area you are viewing, the point you picked on the map, the values you entered in the calculator, and up to three earlier questions and answers from the same conversation. During the beta we also store the text of questions and answers to improve the service.
• Question limits. During the beta, each person can ask 10 questions in total, and everyone together can ask 3,000. To tell people apart, we turn your IP address into a one-way hash mixed with a secret value (a salt) and store that hash with your count. The hash cannot be turned back into your IP address, and we never store the IP address itself.
• Chat records. For each question we store the question and answer text, the time, the page or area, quick or in-depth, the model used, token counts, cost, whether it succeeded, the IP hash above and a random session ID used only within the tab. We use this to see which questions are common and to manage answer quality, costs and errors.

Usage records

• Page views; the parts of a page you scroll to; buttons, links, tabs and map layers you click; areas and menu values you choose; addresses you search for in "Find by address" and the calculator; places you open on the map; and how long you stay and how far you scroll.
• Stored with them: a random session ID that ends when you close the tab, the IP hash described above, screen width and device type (phone, tablet or computer), the referring page and the page language.
• We use no cookies. Apart from address searches, we do not store what you type into fields. We use this only to learn which features and areas people look at and to improve the site.

Email

• If you write to here@wherewise.ca, we receive your email address and message and use them to reply.

Hosting logs

• Vercel, which hosts the site, may keep short-term access logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser details) for security and operations. [Owner to confirm: log retention for the plan in use]

Consent. By sending a question to the AI chat, you agree to the processing described above. Everything else on the site works without the chat. [Lawyer to review: whether implied consent is enough for usage records]

• Accounts, names, home addresses, phone numbers or payment details.
• Your device’s precise location (GPS). The site never asks for location permission.
• Ads or ad tracking. We do not use cookies.
• We do not sell, rent or use personal information for advertising.

AI 상담의 답은 Anthropic PBC(미국)의 Claude 모델이 사이트의 숫자를 바탕으로 씁니다. 질문과 앞에서 적은 화면 정보가 Anthropic의 API로 보내지고, Anthropic은 자체 약관과 개인정보 방침에 따라 이를 처리하며 일정 기간 보관할 수 있습니다. [법률 검토: Anthropic 상업 약관의 현재 보관 기간과, API 자료를 모델 학습에 쓰지 않는다는 조건을 확인해 적기]

베타 기간에는 질문과 답의 내용을 저장합니다. 그러니 이름·연락처 같은 개인정보는 질문에 적지 마세요.

Answers in the AI chat are written by Anthropic PBC’s Claude models (USA), based on the figures on this site. Your question and the on-screen details listed above are sent to Anthropic’s API. Anthropic processes them under its own terms and privacy policy and may keep them for a limited time. During the beta we store the text of questions and answers, so please do not put personal details such as names or contact information in a question.

Because this information is stored and processed outside Canada, it may be accessed by courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of the United States under US law.

언어와 창 너비는 우리에게 보내지 않습니다. 대화 내용은 새 질문을 보낼 때 앞선 질문과 답(최근 3개까지)만 함께 가고, 세션 번호는 이용 기록과 상담 질문에 함께 보내집니다.

These values are kept on your device, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

• Your language choice (localStorage, until you clear it)
• The width of the AI chat panel (localStorage, until you clear it)
• Your AI chat conversation (sessionStorage, gone when you close the tab)
• The random session ID for usage records (sessionStorage, gone when you close the tab)

The language and panel width are never sent to us. From the conversation, only up to three earlier questions and answers are sent along with a new question, and the session ID is sent with usage records and chat questions.

When you open a page, your browser contacts the services below directly. Like any web request, each of them receives your IP address and browser details and handles them under its own policy.

• Find by address: the address you type is sent from your browser straight to the Province of BC’s BC Address Geocoder (DataBC) to find its location. We never receive or store it.
• Base map: OpenStreetMap Foundation (tile.openstreetmap.org)
• Fonts: Google Fonts, jsDelivr
• Map and chart libraries: unpkg (Leaflet), cdnjs (Chart.js)

If the law requires us to keep something longer, we keep it for that period.

• 브라우저와 서버 사이의 연결은 HTTPS로 암호화합니다.
• IP 주소는 저장하기 전에 비밀 값을 섞어 해시로 바꿉니다. 비밀 값은 서버 설정에만 있습니다.

인터넷을 통한 전송과 저장은 완벽하게 안전할 수 없습니다. 개인정보가 새어 나가 큰 피해가 생길 위험이 있으면 법에 따라 알리겠습니다.

• Connections between your browser and our server are encrypted with HTTPS.
• IP addresses are hashed with a secret value before anything is stored. The secret is kept only in the server settings.
• Only the owner can access the database and service accounts.
• We collect only what we need.

No transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will give notice as the law requires.

• 정정: 틀린 정보를 고쳐 달라고 요청할 수 있습니다.
• 동의 철회: AI 상담을 쓰지 않으면 새 정보가 생기지 않습니다. 이미 저장된 기록은 지워 달라고 요청할 수 있습니다.

우리는 IP 주소 대신 해시만 갖고 있어서, 누구의 기록인지 바로 찾지 못할 수 있습니다. 상담을 쓸 때의 IP 주소를 알려 주시면 같은 방식으로 해시를 만들어 기록을 찾습니다.

요청은 here@wherewise.ca로 보내 주세요. BC 법이 정한 기한(보통 영업일 30일) 안에 답합니다.

• Access: you can ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used.
• Correction: you can ask us to correct information that is wrong.
• Withdrawing consent: if you stop using the AI chat, no new information is created. You can ask us to delete records already stored.

Because we keep only a hash instead of your IP address, we may not be able to tell which records are yours. If you tell us the IP address you used, we can hash it the same way and find them.

Please send requests to here@wherewise.ca. We will reply within the time BC law allows (generally 30 business days).

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If what we collect or why we collect it changes significantly, we will also announce it on the site.
